Fishing is an easy thing to do.There are a lot of different types of fishing however. If you are starting off and its all new to you, you should know the basics. ex: rod, reel, line, hook, fake bait, live bait etc.
If you are really just starting off and want to start small, then your best shot is your neighborhood lakes and or ponds. You can find bass, catfish, sunfish, brim, carp, gar, and others.
Lake fishing is really simple. if you are looking to catch bass on fake bait such ans top water lures, plugs, fake worms, fake frogs, and you do not know how to use these DO NOT PANIC. All you need to do is use common sense on how they should look and move, or go on YouTube and look up how. You can also google/Bing it. If its your first time fishing at this lake or pond then you ca ask some neighbors or locals about the lake. ex: which spots to cast in, bait, line, rod, and best time to go fishing there.
YOU DO NOT have to use fake bait. You can also use bread and corn or some home made substance of your choice. if u want to use this method again google and youtube it.
If you know of some freshwater/saltwater streams or rivers definitely look into that. I know of alot of different fish that live in those types of waters. the best kind of fishing for those are fly fishing and using live bait.
Saltwater deep sea fishing is very cool. Theres just so many different types of ways to fish. But its mostly live bait.
